The Comox Valley Boys & Girls Club, with families and other adults, offer children and youth opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge and values they seek to become fulfilled individuals.
The club is currently accepting employment applications. Successful candidates will deliver programs that promote empowerment, belonging and inclusiveness while providing role modeling and advocacy to children and families.

- After School Care Supervisor ~ part time
- After School Care Leaders and ~ part time

- Program Coordinator, General Programs ~ part time
Closing date for applications is August 25.
After School Care Supervisor will plan for and deliver after school care activities following licensing regulations and CVBGC Core Values. The successful candidate will ensure the safety and well being of program participants, plan activities focusing on FUN, skill development, healthy lifestyle choices, personal growth and community. This person will promote a positive team atmosphere, supervise and evaluate program staff and volunteers, and manage the program budget.
An ideal program supervisor will bring an attitude of tolerance and respect, the ability to relate to children, parents, staff and others in a manner that is welcoming and respectful and have a desire to provide fun activities, positive mentoring and relationship building skills to Boys & Girls Club Members.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have completed courses and/or training focusing on the care of children and youth. Must have a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in a similar field.
- Must possess a valid Class IV driver’s license and Drivers Abstract.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certificate.
- Must successfully pass a criminal record check.
- Must be approved as a Licensed Manager by Community Care Facility Licensing Officer within 30 days of employment.
- Previous supervisory and management experience is preferred.
After School Care Leaders will deliver after school care activities following licensing regulations and CVBGC Core Values. The successful candidates will ensure the safety and well being of program participants, participate in activities focusing on FUN, skill development, healthy lifestyle choices, personal growth and community.
Program Leaders will deliver programs that engage the children, provide a welcoming, respectful environment and respond to their individual needs. Strong communication skills, independence, compassion, respect, and a good sense of humour are necessary to be successful in this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post Secondary training in Child and Youth Care, Recreation or related field or equivalent education &/or experience.
- Direct program delivery experience with demonstrated working knowledge of childcare programs is preferred.
- Valid Class 4 Drivers License.
- Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR (Approved by Community Care Licensing Regulations).
- Must successfully pass a Criminal Records Check.
Parent Education
Parent Services is seeking a part-time Program Coordinator to work with parents of pre-teens and parents of teens in group settings. This position includes evening work and possibly two or three Saturdays per year. Preference will be given to Certified Canadian Family Educators.
Parents Together
A program focused on education and support for parents of “acting out” teens.
Parenting Without Power Struggles
For parents of Preteens aged 9-13. Providing support, information and encouragement to parents ready for the challenge of change!
Program Coordinator, General Programs
The successful applicant will facilitate community based programs for children aged 7-12. Programs will focus on skill development, personal growth and community involvement. Groups of eight to twelve children participate in programs such as Kids in the Kitchen, Hiking, Sports O Rama and Homework Club. The Program Coordinator will facilitate these fun programs with the assistance of staff and or volunteers in various neighbourhoods in the Comox Valley afterschool and evenings. Personal organization and experience with petty cash and budgets is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post Secondary training in Child and Youth Care, Recreation or related field or equivalent education &/or experience.
- Valid Class 4 Drivers License is an asset.
- Food Safe is an asset.
- Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR .
- Must successfully pass a Criminal Records Check.
