YMCA Summer Exchange Program- Comox Valley Youth Wecome!
YMCA NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAM:
National program strengthens language skills and builds work experience
Victoria and surrounding communities– The YMCA of Victoria is now accepting applications from 16 and 17 year olds to participate in the Summer Work Student Exchange, a national youth exchange program for eligible teens who wish to strengthen their French skills and gain valuable work experience while on exchange to Quebec.
For six weeks in the summer, participants from Victoria and area are ‘twinned’ with youth in Quebec and are hosted in each other’s homes. During these six weeks, youth are given a full time paid work placement in the not-for-profit sector and participate in activities and events that give them the opportunity to be engaged and contribute to their new surroundings.
Eligible teens can apply for a 2008 exchange opportunity by contacting Catherine Beaulac at 370-0004 or cabeaulac@yahoo.ca or by visiting www.summer-work.com. Candidates are selected on a first-come first-serve basis and the available spots for 2008 are filling quickly. Applications are due by May 25, 2008.
