Volunteering

Mission:

To provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.

Volunteerism is a key factor in the success of the Boys & Girls Club movement across Canada. The Comox Valley Boys and Girls Club acknowledges the vital contribution of volunteers and agrees to provide:
1. Access to training, networking and community. Written and verbal references for volunteers.
2. A forum to participate in and enrich the lives of children
3. Access to professional staff for support and encouragement.
4. Resources for the program.

Volunteers are welcome to participate in many levels of the club. Opportunities include, but are not limited to:

  • Office Support
  • Program Leadership & Support
  • Facility Maintenance
  • Fundraising
  • Special Events
  • Board of Directors

Program Leadership & Support

The Comox Valley Boys & Girls Club offers programming for children aged 7-12 throughout the school year and in the summer. Volunteering in children’s programs during the school year can be done on a short term (8 weeks, once per week) or longer term (10 months) basis. For Summer Day Camps, volunteer times can be coordinated to fit the schedules of the potential volunteer.

Volunteer opportunities are available for youth mentorship programs. These programs, Mentoring Young Men and Mentoring Young Women, are based on a group mentorship model- the programs are activity based and occur in a group setting with a staff facilitator.
